متن کاملInvasive equine trophoblast expresses conventional class I major histocompatibility complex antigens.
Monoclonal antibodies and alloantisera were used in an indirect immunohistochemical assay to determine the expression of class I and class II Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) antigens by equine placental cells and the endometrial tissues at the fetal-maternal interface. MHC class I antigens were expressed at high density on the surface of the trophoblast cells of the chorionic girdle at d...
متن کاملClonal distribution and phase-variable expression of a major histocompatibility complex analogue protein in Staphylococcus aureus.
The mapW gene of Staphylococcus aureus strain N315 contains a poly(A) tract which truncates translation of the protein. This study demonstrates that mapW is an allelic variant of the map/eap genes found in other strains and that the variation in the length of this poly(A) tract suggests that it is a contingency locus.
متن کاملMajor Histocompatibility Complex, Class I, B
Description The genes of the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) system reside on chromosome 6, and code for cellsurface proteins that play a crucial role in the presentation of endogenic peptides to effector cells of the immune system. The HLA Class I protein molecule is a heterodimer, made up of two chains; a heavy one and a light one (beta 2 microglobulin). The HLA-B gene is one of the three HLA C...
متن کاملDifferential resistance to Staphylococcus aureus challenge in major histocompatibility (B) complex congenic lines.
Ten inbred B-congenic Leghorn lines were challenged with two isolates of Staphylococcus aureus at 3 days and 6 wk of age. Significant differences in mortality were observed among such lines when challenged at 3 days with either S. aureus Isolate P4L (moderately pathogenic) or S. aureus Isolate 3727 (highly pathogenic). Line 331 (B2/B2 genotype) had lower mortality than either Line 004 (B17/B17,...
